Hollywood Memories:

The Art of the Movie Poster

August 12 to September 30, 2008

McHenry Museum, 1402 I Street, Modesto

For more than 100 years, the movie poster has inspired the imaginations of film viewers young and old. Magnificent graphics, bright colors, and intriguing photos all come together to create some of the most exciting images of the 20th century. This exhibition of more than 40 posters spans the years from the 1930s to the 1970s, and includes films from several of the great studios. The exhibition is a partnership of the McHenry Museum, the Modesto Film Society, and the Modesto Art Museum.

The exhibition is part of Surrealism: The Cutting Edge of Art, a series of events celebrating the 90th anniversary of Surrealism.

Hollywood Memories is sponsored in part by the City of Modesto Culture Commission, Modesto Commerce Bank, and the generosity of the members of the Modesto Film Society and the Modesto Art Museum. Thank you.
