Sketches of Frank Gehry by director Sydney Pollack Rebelling against the conservativism of contemporary architecture, Frank Gehry creates seemingly impossible architectural masterpieces such as the Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and the Guggenheim in Bilbao. Beginning with rough sketches then moving to models made of cardboard and tape, Gehry’s genius transforms steel, titanium, and glass into the most heart-stopping structures the world has ever seen. This film looks inside the mind of the most acclaimed and controversial architect of the 21st century. Also: Modernism in Modesto, a presentation on the modern architecture of Modesto The American Institute of Architects Sierra Valley Chapter, the Modesto Film Society, the State Theatre, and the Modesto Art Museum present Modesto's first architecture film festival. Over the course of the year, on four different nights, see films on architecture and architects, as well as exhibits of architectural models and renderings.
