Creativity: Things you can do to inspire your creativity

Participate! That's what this museum is all about. Allow yourself to experience and play with new ideas, new ways of doing things, new ways of seeing, and new ways of thinking. Participate as a viewer, a creator, or best to be both.

Become a museum member, and stay on top of what's happening and be invited to special activities and events.

Do some of the activities listed below to help inspire your creativity.

1. Plan and plant a garden, planter, or pot with the most unusual plants you can find.
2. Create
mail art on your next letter. Use a combination of one, two, three and four cent stamps instead of one 41 cent stamp.
3. Everyday for a week, take a different route to work, to the gym, the market, or wherever you usually go.
4. For at least a month go to a totally different church.
5. Take a friend or several friends and find a
letterbox in your area.
6. Spend two or three hours photographing architectural features on buildings downtown.
7. Create an
altered book.
8. Attend your city's gallery walk. In Modesto it's the third Thursday of the month.
9. Spend at least two hours a month in an art museum and pick out the works you would have in your own home.
10. Memorize the words of a song, any song, and sing it out loud.
11. Plan and carry out an act of
guerilla art.
12. Work with a group of friends and solve Nick Bantock's Egyptian Jukebox conundrum.
13. Create an altar of good taste in your home. This is a space where you can showcase an object of beauty. Change the object once a week.
14. Find and cook a recipe you've never tried before.

15. Go on an art safari with a group of friends or your family and hunt for works of art and architecture.
