Modesto Art Museum’s mission is to inspire the creativity of people everywhere through the arts, for their own enjoyment, the improvement of their personal lives, and the enrichment of the entire community.

To accomplish this mission, MAM sponsors enjoyable art events and activities that stimulate creativity and critical thinking, and that provide training in artistic techniques and expression. Art events and activities include exhibitions, workshops, classes, lectures, publications, performances, readings, tours, films, and symposia.

MAM breaks down the usual barriers between artist, exhibitor, and viewer, inviting everyone to invest in creative interaction and dialogue. While MAM explores art from all time periods and cultures, the primary focus is on contemporary art with a special eye for the multicultural richness and diversity of Modesto area residents.

MAM incorporates the experience of art throughout daily life. As such, MAM sponsors art events in every possible setting including galleries, public and private institutions, businesses, theatres, gardens, parks, streets, schools, churches, libraries, homes, on-line, and in traveling exhibits.
