1. Modernism In Modesto, 1937 - 1972
Completing this walking tour will introduce you to a selection of Modesto’s downtown modernist gems built between 1937 and 1972.
Modesto has several interesting residential areas with homes in a variety of styles. This 2.5 mile tour will take you through parts of two early 20th century developments. Most of the homes are from the 1920s and the tour includes several storybook homes.
In the middle decades of the 20th century, Modesto's Modernist architecture was getting national attention. This 10 mile driving or biking tour will introduce you to some of the best Modernist architecture, landscape, and art in California.
